Ra - God of the Sun & Order

Our Egyptian line of stamps represents symbols and images that are widely known as being symbols of strength and representation of the basis of life. The first of our Ancient Egyptian Gods metal design stamps is Ra, the sun god. Ra is the Egyptian word for 'sun'. As a solar deity, Ra embodied the power of the sun but was also thought to be the sun itself, envisioned as the great god riding in his barge across the heavens throughout the day and descending into the underworld at sunset. 

Ra was believed to rule in all parts of the created world: the sky, the Earth, and the underworld. He was the god of the sun, order, kings and the sky. Ra was portrayed as a falcon and shared characteristics with the sky-god Horus.
